Bahri started its general cargo transportation business in 1983. It entered the Petredec petroleum products transportation business in 1985, and entered the bulk cargo transportation business in 2010.

Due to the expansion of the company's business and the increase in the number of its fleet units. The company established the Middle East Ship Management Company Limited in 1996 to provide technical services to the company's ships and tankers as well as the companies affiliated with the Bahri Group.

The company celebrated its silver jubilee in 2004, and the company currently owns (41) large oil tankers. The company also owns 6 multi-purpose ro-ro ships operating on the routes of the Arabian Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the East Coast of the United States and Canada on a regular basis.

These ships specialize in transporting project cargo, general cargo and various types of ro-ro cargo, and are also equipped with heavy cranes. The ship's capacity is approximately 26,000 deadweight tons, and new ships are expected to enter service to join the current fleet. The company also owns a container yard in Jeddah Islamic Port for container storage and repair and maintenance services.
